2020 Juried Student Gallery Exhibition & Fundraiser

You must be the sole author of the photography you are submitting. Only digital submissions will be accepted for the jurying process. All students enrolled in one photography course or more at SMC within the past year are eligible.

***NEW THIS YEAR***

ALL images that are accepted and hanging in the student exhibition this year will be offered for sale to the general public, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting hungry SMC students. The Photography Department is providing paper, ink, and matting supplies in order to cover the expense of printing/matting. Specific printing details and requirements will be emailed with acceptance notifications on March 30.

Files must be prepared as follows:

  • Full Resolution Jpeg (Minimum 2000 pixels long dimension)
  • Adobe RGB 1998, or sRGB
  • Files MUST be named correctly: yourlastname_firstname_sequence#.jpg  EXAMPLE: dylan_bob_001.jpg
  • Incorrectly named files will automatically be disqualified
  • Deadline for submissions is 11:59 pm, March 26, 2020. Late entries will not be accepted
  • For best results, please upload your complete submission all in one session. It is possible to change your submission up until the deadline of March 26, but you must seek Submittable's technical assistance in order to do so.

Photographers of all selected images will be notified on March 30.  All selected images in the OPEN CATEGORY must be printed, mounted and matted on white mat board (does not apply to Photo 1 category).  If you have not completed a course at SMC beyond Photo 1, or are a Community Education student, please enter the Photo 1 category ONLY. Due date for all selected and printed images is April 20. Because of gallery and hanging logistics, it is not possible to grant extensions to this deadline.  Students in the Open Category may submit a maximum of 10 images for a  flat donation of $10. Students in the Photo 1 category may submit up to 5 images for a flat donation of $5. Fees are a donation to the photography department and help off-set the cost of administering the exhibition and maintaining our photographic equipment.

*All entrants grant Santa Monica College Photography Department the right to reproduce, distribute, and display any and all submitted images for promotional purposes in perpetuity without further compensation.
